         Face frame-overlay        

   

Most common cabinet style.
Frame made from hardwood.
Joints are Glued and doweled.
Doors and drawer fronts overlap frame by 1 /2". This style cabinet allows room for fingers to open doors and drawers eliminating the need for handles or knobs.
Open cabinets or book shelves are usually made with a framed front.

      Face frame-flush inset

      
This style cabinet most commonly used for fine furniture.
Doors and drawer fronts are flush with the front of cabinet.
Each door and drawer front is individually fitted to its opening making this cabinet the most labor intensive to build.
Knobs or handles required.

 

          Frameless-overlay

     

This style cabinet originated in Europe and is commonly called a European Cabinet. It has gained quite a bit of popularity over the last ten years.
Veneer is used to cover cabinet face instead of face frame.
Cabinet doors and drawer fronts cover entire face of cabinet leaving 1/8" reveal between them.
Most difficult to install, requires additional door square footage.
Knobs or handles required.
